Small doses

I haven’t made a lot of art lately. This is not news. I was pretty burned out, creative juices drained and been left running on empty since the end of August. For the most part, that was fine. I had a lot of other life things to catch up on and stay busy with. But when the art group threw out the opportunity to do some ATC’s and ‘Plus Size Inchies’ I decided it was time to try some art stuff again. Theme was poultry for Thanksgiving, plus one extra of your choosing.

ATC Poultry

I have a lot of images of chickens from old cookbooks and the like, so this one was easy. The happy little, magic woman was my extra theme card. It was from some old cookbook showing the ‘magic’ of sour cream in everything you cook.

I threw the opportunity for a quick art fix out to Victor. He decided it might be fun and gave it a try.

All hand drawn and colored. I think they rock. Can’t wait for the group to see them.

Then the ‘Plus Size Inchies’ had a theme of red. Plus size just means that they are 1.5 inches instead of 1 inch. These came out pretty cool. What didn’t help was getting the embossing powder all stuck down and then the heat gun dying. I was cranky, but I got a new gun today and finished them up.

Dye for Halloween

I needed to hand dye a hat for my son’s Halloween costume. And I wasn’t pulling out all the dye tools just for a hat! So I pulled together some fabrics, some white, some not. Wound up some cotton threads and got to work. Oh, and there was a hat in there too. It was fun, sometimes stressful, and lots of messy. There’s a big blue stain on my laundry room floor as proof. Luckily none of the kids or animals became multicolored from the project. The hat turned out great. Here’s a picture of some of the threads and a cool piece of cloth.
